ProfilPASS in Kosovo

The Profil-PASS System was developed in 2006 by the German Institute for Adult Education – Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning (DIE) and the Institute for Developmental and Structural Research at the University of Hannover (ies).

Between 2017 and 2019 GIZ funded the adaption of the ProfilPASS instrument to Kosovo as well as the training of counsellors under the fund ORF MMS. Training and adoption were carried out with the expertise of SKILLS members from Bosnia.

Currently, there are twenty four certified counsellors for Competencies Passport in Kosovo, until now 225 people benefited from counselling in Kosovo. We are planning to target 400 beneficiaries in Kosovo in both Albanian and Serbian language in order to meet our expectations for 2023/2026.

How profilpass counselling looks.

One counselling lasts 4 to 5 meetings one to one, one session lasts 60 to 90 minutes, first session is to do presentation and knowing each other, counsellor and counselled person, at the end they decide in which fields will continue with the next session.

Each person who start with counselling receives the Book of ProfilPASS which has very useful information for steps how to precise knowledge/competencies person possess.

Every session is recorded to Database that serves as tool for counsellor to create certificate based on the counselling results.

Counselling continues with fields of actions in the following fields, Education, Vocational Training, Work Life and Practice, Household and Family Economy, Hobbies and Interest, Voluntary work, Political or social engagement or Special life situations.

In order to have completed the counselling at least three fields should be chosen and completed.

At the end competencies are discovered and recorded to the certificate that will be issued, goals are placed for counselled person to fulfil in three or six months’ time.

This way of counselling enables us to identify potential of each counselled person, what abilities they have and recommend for further employment or start-up businesses. For persons who are looking for higher education we identify what areas of education to follow.

Counselled person is followed up for period of six to nine month with regular contacts, creating similar networks in the field of their interests.

What is ProfilPASS?

The ProfilPASS serves to document skills and competencies that are acquired during schooling, work, performing any voluntary activity, engaging in any hobbies, or performing any duties or obligations within family.

MY ACTIVITIES - DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO?

This Chapter is main part of the counselling and deals with the most detailed elaboration of some individual areas of action and examines the details of activities. During this process, it will become clear to what all the skills person have used and what new skills he/she have mastered.

This chapter will guide in completing following fields of action:

  • Education
  • Vocational Training
  • Work Life and Practice
  • Household and Family Economy
  • Hobbies and Interest
  • Voluntary work
  • Political or social engagement
  • Special life situations

The profilpass consists of six chapters:

  1. My life : it will bring a short journey into a life and offer help in reviewing actions.
  2. My areas of action - Examples for completing the ProfilPASS: presents current examples for completing certain areas of action;
  3. My areas of action - My passport: means a detailed elaboration of areas of action, such as: education, vocational training, life and work practice, household and family economy, hobbies and interests, volunteer work, political or social engagement and special life situations.
  4. My competencies - Balance: is a balance of competencies that have seen and discovered while completing the third chapter. The key question is how person will relate to this data and how will be  used it for future life plans; what competencies to add, what skills needed to develop further, what interests will pursue, and what weaknesses may and want to overcome. This chapter gives the opportunity to set goals and plan the next steps that will lead to achieve those goals;
  5. My goals and next steps: when person becomes aware of competence skills, where he/she determine future interests, goals, and steps;
  6. ProfilPASS Plus: Provides instructions for the preparation of documents for the competition and preparation for interviews, specified competencies, proof of certificates, collection of certificates and testimonies on commitments.
